Coaching: Pushing off the negativity, of others

Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. -Matthew 5:44

Ok peeps, let’s have a #realtalk moment today. I know it’s not always easy to follow this verse of scripture, especially when the actions of others can seriously drain your energy and zap your positivity. And we all know how easy it is to spiral into a pit of depression if we aren’t mindful of pushing off the negativity quickly. So, let’s explore a few techniques I like to implement to help me find success in these trying moments in time…

Have a scheduled moment of Positivity each day…

whether in prayer, scripture & bible study, words of affirmation, sending love to others or a simple silent meditation. Having a scheduled moment of positivity sets the pattern for how you want your day and energy to flow. It allows your body, mind and soul to unite and focus on your light and gives that light a space to be cultivated and slowly grow within. Because it is from small and simple things that great things are brought to pass.

Remember that Negativity is a choice…

and so is positivity. I find it helpful to remember that each and every emotion we experience—whether we chose to allow it to enter our stream of consciousness or it is placed there by another’s choice and action—is controllable. We can either choose to keep it or take a moment to acknowledge it, give it a name and a space, explore it and then lovingly release it into the ether.

Choose your friends and acquaintances with intention…

because the energy and voices that you choose to surround yourself with slowly become a part of your internal monologue and eventual your being. The more positive, influential and forward moving your acquaintances are, the more that energy and attitude is going to rub off on you. So be brave in your friendships. Seek out the ones that you want. Don’t settle for what you’ve ‘always had’ and who you’ve ‘always hung out with’. Remember that you can’t set a new course while feeding old habits.

From my heart to yours—Make today the one you want to live!

Just love,
kelly
