Natural ways to beat the afternoon slump

Too often at work I find my energy levels taking a serious nose dive in the early afternoon. My body is working hard to digest all of the yummy proteins and foods from lunch and all the blood is rushing to my tummy to help it out. Which makes me a wee bit sleepy. Are you nodding your head right now and thinking ‘yup, I know that feeling’.

Well let’s find out how to beat that afternoon slump!

My fave way is to head outside on a sunny day and get some fresh vitamin D for about 10-15 minutes. It does a body wonders!
But what about those rainy days? Stepping away from the ‘usual spot’ be it your desk, the sofa – wherever – and making a ‘Hi, How are you call’ to a friend or family member can be throughly invigorating.

If you love essential oils as much as I do, putting a drop of peppermint oil in your hands, rubbing them together and smelling it or rubbing it on your face is a great natural energy booster. So is stretching or drinking a glass of water. Both help get the blood circulating in other areas of your body and both require you getting up and moving.

And my all time personal fave is the quick energy boost workout! I’ll sometimes sneak into an empty conference room and pound this bad boy out when I really need to get my heart pumping.
