The best exercises when you're feeling under the weather - SF Fit Mom - Kelly Westover

My body felt the need this weekend to welcome fall in all it’s glory! Including catching a slight cold. Insert sad face here. I’m feeling extra grateful for my daily superfoods and the awesome vitamins I’m getting each day that are helping me fight this iciness. But dang it, colds still stink way hard.

So when my alarm went off at 6am this morning I had to wonder – should I even be considering working out right now? Don’t I need to rest and heal? Am I making myself more sick by pushing my body right now?

I read somewhere about the ‘neck rule’ – no, not the necking rule you silly billy. If your symptoms are above the neck – sneezing, sinus pressure, stuffy nose – then generally breaking a sweat is considered safe. So I thought I’d round up my top 5 ‘safe’ workouts when you’re fighting a cold.

  1. Piyo lower body define
This workout is great at getting the blood pumping without leaving you winded.

  2. Cize
Dancing is one of those ‘safe’ exercises while fighting a cold, so why not blast some fat while you do it? Want to try Cize for free? Sign up for a free club membership here?
  3. A quick trip on your bike
Want to get some fresh air while you sweat? Take a quick ride on your bike.
Or skip the weights and use the bike at the gym.
  4. Walking
  5. Jogging
As long as jogging is part of your regular routine, it shouldn’t be any issue to stick with it while fighting that silly bug.

Be well my friends!
