5 fave infant Car Seats that won’t break the Twin Mama’s bank

I’ll be honest, infant car seat shopping is haaaard.

The choices seem endless, the reviews are all over the place and then you have to wonder… will my baby even like sitting in this seat for the many car rides and early morning jogs we’ll be taking together? AND if you’re a preemie mom you’re double checking to make sure your seat is rated for the lower weight range, namely 4lbs and up. I did a bit of research, both in real twin mama life, and online and have compiled a list of my 5 fave infant car seats. Bonus, they won’t break the Twin Mama’s bank, cuz that’s a real thing when you’re ponying up twice for everything!

1. Britax B-Safe35

Rated for 4-35 lbs. I personally love the narrowness of the seat and the steeper angle that the babies sit at. It appears to be nice and snug and gets great ratings. Easy to click in and out of it’s base and any snap and go stroller system. (I personally use these car seats along with the City Select Double Baby Jogger system with these snap and go attachments.)

2. Graco Snugride Click Connect

Rated for 4-35 lbs. This great low-cost carseat is almost two full pounds lighter than the Britax B-safe35. While it’s fairly easy to install it was given 4 out of 5 stars by NHTSA for having hook latches instead of the easier push-button latches.

3. Chicco KeyFit 30

Rated for 4-30 lbs. This carseat maxes out at 30 pounds and is slightly more expensive than the Britax. The seat is slightly wider and sits at less of an incline as well, which some infants prefer. If your little one isn’t liking the Britax give this one a try and see if they don’t prefer this angle better.

4. Uppababy Mesa

Rated for 4-35 lbs and sitting on the higher side of the budget. I’ll be honest, as a twin mama this one is simply outside of the budget since it’s almost the cost of two of the others put together. It does offer a two year warranty, one year longer than Britax, Chicco and Graco, and the seats expiration is 7 years after the date of manufacture.

5. Safety 1st onBoard 35 Air 360

Rated for 4-35 lbs. Sitting just above the current sale price of the Britax seats, this inexpensive car seat also uses hook latches instead of the easier push-button latches.
