About

Hello gorgeous.

I’m Kelly Westover, and this here is the SF Fit Mom blog. A little place where I partner with top brands and companies to share some #twinmama tips, #depression and #anxiety helps, #fitness #food and #selfcare items.
Are you sick of hashtags yet? Nah, me neither.

Why do you blog?
I’m a creative individual who needs a creative outlet at all times. I learned this about myself the hard way when I went on maternity leave with my first son. I about went crazy with all the stillness and non-creative-ness that I found myself immersed in as a new mom. (Picture really gross exploding head now)…

Enter, the blog.
Originally it began as an interior design inspiration space, since that is what my schooling is in, and remnants of that remain. But, ultimately family, life and self care took over and it stands proudly now before you as a little piece of my creative & fitness loving home, online. I try my hardest to keep thing reeeaaaal around here, because life is real and raw and messy and beautiful. So feel free to call me out if I get too ‘surface level’ or just plain silly. Mmmm k?!?

After my first pregnancy I unknowingly battled with Postpartum depression for a solid 6 months until one day the fogs lifted and the light returned and I remember thinking…. ‘oh, there I am’. It was only then that I realized what had been going on in my mind and my body. Why I was so unsettled, frazzled, up and then immediately down at rock bottom.

I went through a similar PPD battle with my first set of twins—our second and third kiddos—and was somewhat better prepared for it. It still took me a solid 6 months to raise my hair up out of the depths for a truth breath of air.

With our third pregnancy, and second set of twins, I walked into the hospital knowing PPD was coming and proudly walked out with my Zoloft prescription. Treating my body and mind as whole and not as separate parts made a world of difference this time around. I still battled PPD but I did it on my terms, and with my eyes wide open. I wasn’t sad, ashamed or uneducated. I was empowered, enlightened and felt entrusted to walk these well known paths again with fresh eyes, ears and heart. I was meant to walk this path so that I could learn and in turn share those learnings with you.

Do you have fraternal twins?
I sure do! Two sets of them.

  1. Our first girl/boy set are named Avery (girl) & Rhys (boy) and they were born 12 weeks early.
You can read all about their NICU journey here.
  2. Our second girl/girl set are named Crosby & Dylan and they were born at 34 weeks and 3 days.

I haven’t yet published their NICU journey… maybe someday I will. (*wink*)

How do you pronounce Rhys?
Rhys is the traditional Welsh spelling for Reese.
And yes, we call him Rhys’ Pieces. 🙂

Are you a a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints?
I absolutely am!

How do you get around with five littles 9 and under?
It’s not always easy, but with some great gear, a good schedule and a little muscle we manage to get out and go quite often. Check out this post about my fave infant car seats and check out my insta feed + stories for regular on-the-go tips.
I’m not the type to sit around and twiddle my thumbs so go, go, going is part of what keeps me mentally sane!

About that… how do you stay sane with all your littles?
Scheduling! I try my hardest to make sure I have special mama time, devotional time and one-on-one time with each little.

Are you a Beach Body coach?
I sure used to be! I became a Beach Body coach in October of 2014 and loved every minute of it! I set it aside while pregnant with our second set of twins because twin pregnancies are HARD and I needed every ounce of time and energy to grow tiny humans. Now I coach right here, on Instagram and on YouTube… anything from mental and physical health to spiritual and family health and all the health and fun in-between.

I suffer with postpartum depression and anxiety and hear you have too. How do you deal?
Oh girl, I feel ya. With each one of my pregnancies I’ve dealt with PPD and anxiety. I made a handy checklist to help myself remember the steps to quickly get out of a depression spiral, I hope you find that helpful too.
